New year 2009-2010 trip to Jogjakarta :)

I really want to make this kind of journal since long ago, but never got chance to do it. Hopefully this one is done properly.

We arrived at lunch time so we went straight away to a 'lesehan' restaurant at Cangkringan called Moro Lenjar. The 'Ikan Mas Goreng' is super delicious! The taste of the fish itself is very unique, so sorry I can't describe it in words.

Finished eating, we went to a batik boutiqe called 'Batik Tirto Noto'. I didn't get much on that store, but my mom did. Then, we went to our own guesthouse Monginsidi to take a rest for some hours, preparing ourselves for a show tonight. A show?

Yes, it was a very..very special show.. It's 'Sendratari Ramayana' at Candi Prambanan. I didn't know much about the story and it surprised me that my mom MASTERED the story line. Here are some best pics that I could get:

Shinta was kidnapped by Rahwana.

This is the ending - happy ending... Rama and Shinta are back together again. ;)

Then, we were very hungry and didn't need much time to decide what we're going to eat. We ate at Nasi Gudeg at Sagan street.
Second day, we planned to go to a beach, 'Baron' or 'Krakal' but eventually we decided to go to Solo. On the way to Solo, we visited a village called 'Desa Tembih'. There are some traditional guest houses there. The concept is sort of 'back to nature' thing.

As you can see here, even the bath room is made of stone and open sky.

We needed to cross the river to reach the other house.

In some other area, there is a batik boutiqe and craft shop.

Then, we ate at a local restaurant called 'Kusumasari'. It's an old restaurant selling foods with low price yet the portion is very small... :D We also bought Serabi Notosuman for sure (but I like the Jakarta's version better, not too sweet). But the lekker is very yummy...
Not only eat, we also visited other batik boutiqe called Putra Laweyan. I like batik style in Solo more than in Jogja. It's more stylish I think..

At night..
Went back to Jogja..! We already booked a table at Gajah Wong restaurant. Nothing really special about this place except for the design. Well, I have to admit that we were a little bit upset at the moment. For me, especially because of the poor music and sound system :(

The gamelan was ok.
At 11 o'clock, an average band performed with low quality - sorry.. But hello...! This is Jogja! City of art...!! But then, a bule voluntarily played guitar and sang like a pro! Maybe he is.. I don't have a clue. It saved the night. Thank you, dear Mr...
Well, happy new year everybody!

On the next day, we went to Semarang to visit our relatives that were going through a hard time in hospital for some days. We have Soto Bangkong for lunch. And it took about more than 3 hours to get back to Jogja because of traffic jam! At night, we couldn't find a restaurant to eat, it was full everywhere.. so we ended up at a Sate Kaki Lima Pak Udin, next to the guest house! hahaha.. But it was very yummy, it was one of our favorite, actually.

The last day...Shopping at Malioboro!!
I like Malioboro because of its artworks everywhere..

Well, this was the last day...
I was pretty satisfied... I still love Jogja... :) I hope Jakarta could be a city with more culture and art on it. Hopefully... :)
